Santiago de Compostela
It is located in the northwest of Spain and is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia.
In 1993 it was declared a World Heritage Site and is internationally regarded as one of the Christian pilgrimage destinations. There are those who go to Santiago de Compostela on foot, along a very long path, but along the way you will find incredible scenery, such as small villages, churches, monuments that provide magnificent views.
The tourist attractions of Santiago de Compostela are its imposing Cathedral and the Portico de la Gloria. But the excitement happens at noon at the Pilgrim's Mass, for it is the last stage of the pilgrims who in the end hear their names and their countries being proclaimed. It is also a city full of traditions, one of which is to embrace the Statue of Santiago, which is situated on the top of the Cathedral.
